Permanent position as Structural 3-D Modeller and Detailer, Durbanville, Western Cape

Required engineering experience and personal skills:

  • Minimum B.Tech. (Structural) qualification;
  • Minimum 5-years post qualification (specifically structural engineering work experience) in detailing and modelling of multi-storey buildings (residential and commercial buildings), industrial structures and infrastructure projects i.e. detail and modelling of reinforced concrete structures (pre, post and conventional), load-bearing brick work, steel structures, piling, pile caps, seismic detailing, culverts, etc.;
  • Proficiency in Revit Software (intermediate level as a minimum) and taking the 3-D modelling, draughting and detailing lead on structural projects in collaboration with the Structural Design Engineer.
  • Proficiency in Probar 2D, AutoCAD 2D, Prokon, Excel and Word;
  • Experience working in a Civil and Structural Consulting Engineering office in cooperation with all the other in-house engineering teams (Roads and Energy);
  • Able to work independently but also as part of the structural team, working under pressure, setting goals and as a self-driven person;
  • Excellent initiative and an eagerness to provide top level engineering services as part of a multi-disciplinary team;
  • Be a detail orientated person with an in-depth understanding of structural works;
  • Relevant site experience to understand structural site related challenges in modelling and reinforcing detailing of projects;
  • Effective communication in English (written and verbal);
  • Valid driver’s license with own ensured, reliable vehicle.


Optional:

  • Experience in BIM;
  • Experience in ISO 9001:2015 quality management systems.
  • ECSA registration as a Professional Engineer/Technologist.
  • Experience in structural design of steel and reinforced concrete structures.

Permanent position as Senior Civil Engineer/Technologist, Durbanville, Western Cape

We are looking for a talented and passionate qualified civil engineer/technologist interested in developing and managing challenging projects. Should have wide experience with Infrastructure and Stormwater analyses and Designs.

The position:

  • Work on projects in the municipal and private sector in terms of civil infrastructure type projects as well as a good knowledge of stormwater management plans, analyses and design;
  • Work from front-end feasibility and concept stages of projects through to detailed design and follow-up of execution;
  • Working space is an open plan and very communicative office;
  • Collaboration in an encouraging team environment;
  • Based in the centre of Durbanville, close to access routes, wine farms and all amenities in a flourishing neighbourhood.


Desired Engineering and personal skills and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree/diploma in Civil Engineering;
  • Preferably registered as a Professional Engineer or Technologist with ECSA (or having submitted the application already to ECSA);
  • 5+ years of specific civil engineering working experience;
  • Skilled knowledge with design software related to civil services like earthworks, roads, stormwater, water and sewer;
  • Experience in design and management of similar projects;
  • Experience and expert knowledge of design and draughting software;
  • Competent at compiling a schedule of quantities, specification, documentation and report writing;
  • Experience working in a consulting engineering office in cooperation with all the other in-house engineering teams;
  • Effective communicator in English, both written and verbal form, capable of representing the firm in design team and client meetings;
  • Excellent initiative and an eagerness to provide top level engineering services as part of a multi-disciplinary team;
  • Supervision and project management of similar projects;
  • Working independently but as part of the team, working under pressure, setting goals and being a self-driven person;
  • Valid driver's license with unfettered access to a vehicle.


Desired software skills and software experience:

  • Skilled knowledge of Autocad 3D;
  • SWIM (not required but advantageous);
  • Hecras (not required but advantageous);
  • Wadiso (not required but advantageous);
  • Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Knowledge and experience on how to integrate different software packages.
